Please give a warm welcome to Dana Wnuk. Our newest Howell Rotarian!

Welcome to Dana Wnuk, Executive Director of the Livingston Arts Council and Howell Opera House, who was recently inducted into our Rotary Club of Howell. Dana brings a passion for the arts, creativity, and community-building, working to create welcoming spaces where people can connect through shared experiences. A working artist, small-scale farmer, and active community member, Dana embodies Rotary’s spirit of service and connection. We’re excited to welcome her to the Howell Rotary family!

WE STILL NEED GUEST READERS!

Volunteer as a Guest Reader!

We are still looking for volunteers to read at Southwest Elementary THIS WEEK. Students and teachers really appreciate our efforts - and Literacy is an important initiative of our Club and Rotary International.

We need Rotarians to serve as guest readers at Southwest Elementary School (915 Gay St., Howell, MI 48843) on Tuesday, March 3, and Wednesday, March 4.

Reading session windows:

  • 9:15–11:00 am
  • 1:00–2:15 pm

Each reading slot is 15 minutes, and volunteers are welcome to sign up for more than one slot if their schedule allows. After you select your availability, you’ll be assigned a classroom, teacher, and grade level.

Howell Rotary will provide the book for you to read—and you’ll leave it behind as a gift to the classroom. Readers should bring a photo ID and sign in at the school upon arrival.

Volunteers Needed: Community Playdates

Help Me Grow Livingston and Great Start Livingston are preparing for upcoming Community Playdates serving families with young children across Livingston County — and we’re seeking volunteer support from our local partners.

These playdates are more than just family fun. They are intentional opportunities to:

  • Connect families with local resources
  • Increase awareness of Help Me Grow Livingston
  • Provide access to developmental screenings
  • Reduce caregiver isolation
  • Offer free, accessible activities for young children

At our most recent playdate, we welcomed 88 families and 141 children, creating a welcoming space for caregivers to connect and access trusted resources that support healthy child development and school readiness.

To continue offering these high-quality, family-centered events, we need additional volunteer support. If you’re interested in helping, we’d love to hear from you! Sign up to volunteer.

Join the Howell Rotary Walk for Warmth Team!

Host Families Needed for 2026-2027 Exchange Student

Howell Rotary is seeking host families for an exchange student attending Howell Public Schools from August 2026 through June 2027.

Rotary exchange students typically live with two to three different families for three to five months each to experience a variety of home environments. This opportunity is open to all—including individuals, retirees, and families with or without children.

Host Family Responsibilities:

  • Provide a bed, study space, and meals.
  • Integrate the student into daily family life, culture, and traditions.
  • Offer guidance on navigating the school and local community.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and welcoming home environment.

Hosting is about warmth and cultural exchange rather than luxury. By opening your home, you help build international bridges and support the future of Rotary youth programs.
