The Rotary Corner

Welcome to the October Okanogan Omak Rotary club corner. This month we are all getting ready for the end of warm weather, gathering the last of crops for winter eating, raking leaves, draining irrigation lines, and making sure our “winterizing” is done just in case we get another Snowmaggedon in November!

The big news for our club is that the October 25 th Steak Night and Halloween Costume event promises to have possibly the largest number of amazing auction items in our history and that includes our Wine and Cheese Galas! Some highlights of auction items: Gourmet, 7 course dinners including curated wine; 4 day stays packed with live shows in Seattle; Dinners on the water; and SO much more will be on the auction block. A few tickets are still available.
For more information/check our website or our Facebook page; Rotary Club of Okanogan Omak https://okanogan-omakrotary.org. The Costume contest will be another highlight this year with special prizes for winners and runner ups.

Are you interested in joining a club that has tons of fun but also accomplishes so much good for our community? There is regular information on our Facebook page but better yet if you know a board member or our President, Eric Schneider who can often be found working at Papa Murphy’s ask him how to get involved. Winter can be a lonely time but it doesn’t have to be. Join us and get involved in
doing some of the best work that never felt like work!

The Rotary Corner

The Okanogan-Omak Rotary Corner this month features people, fun, and community.

Eric Schneider, our club president announced that the club member of the month for August was Don Coppock. Don is always happy to help out with projects, fill in where needed, and embodies the Rotary credo of service above self.  Congratulations Don. This honor is well deserved.

Rotarians are preparing for our October 25th Steak Night and Auction with a fun and optional costume contest in honor of Halloween. Tickets for the night include a delicious steak dinner for $30. But WAIT! There’s so much MORE when the silent and live auctions get going with bidding for special gourmet dinners, lake dinner cruises, art work, a car detailing, donations from local merchants, and one of a kind gift packages for early Holiday shopping.  Watch the Omak Okanogan Rotary club Facebook page for sneak peeks and get your tickets before they sell out!

Rotary corner is not just to give you news and highlights, but also to discuss the values that make Rotary a force for good.  Recently, the President of Rotary International discussed the role we can all play in solving mental health needs near and far. He said “Its an important task and a big ask. But its also something that should feel familiar to every Rotary member because everything we do is in the spirit of caring, giving friendship and compassion, and has been from the beginning of our organization.

Our Rotarians enjoyed the sunshine Saturday afternoon (October 28, 2023) and hiked the Conconully Highway for our biannual Highway Cleanup. It was quite the haul! Do something good this week while it is sunny, grab a garbage bag and pick up some trash on your road. Every little bit counts!
