Fouzia was born in Calcutta, India. After the partition of India in 1947 her father decided to move their family to East Pakistan for a better living. In 1971, war broke out because East Pakistan and West Pakistan wanted to separate. The war caused great devastation in the country which created hardships for the people. Therefore, Fouzia’s family decided to move to Venezuela in 1975 for better job opportunities. Due to political unrest and economic problems in Venezuela, Fouzia and her husband decided
to join her family in the United States of America. Fouzia is honored to share her life stories with her Rotary family.

Adrian Tonon currently serves as Detroit’s first 24-Hour Economy Ambassador.  As a member of Detroit’s creative community, he was appointed by Mayor Duggan to lead the City of Detroit’s film, music, and nighttime initiatives. Adrian has bridged government and the arts to advocate for a thriving and sustainable creative culture through his role.

He is also co-founder of the Detroit Music Foundation and Sick Em Records.

Adrian has previously been appointed founding Director of Customer Service for the City of Detroit and has served on the then Detroit Mayoral Candidate Mike Duggan’s executive campaign team to help promote world-class customer success in the public sector and raise awareness of Duggan’s ability to lead the city.

MEMBER MOMENT

Anna Albers joined Rotary in 2011 to seek new ways to serve the community. After being born in Italy, and growing up in Australia, Anna moved with her family to the United States.  She went to Wayne State University and pursued a career in pharmacy.  Anna has a brother and a sister, is married and lives in Troy with her husband Dale. She has 2 sons, one daughter, one stepdaughter, and 3 grandchildren.

While raising her family, Anna volunteered as a Cub Scout leader and was a very active member of St Anastasia Church. After a 45-year career in pharmacy Anna retired from her position as pharmacy department manager at The Kroger Company and is now spending more time with her grandchildren as well as enjoying things like cooking, gardening, and ballroom dancing.
Anna is excited about starting this new chapter in her life which also includes chairing the Troy Rotary Club services committee, because Rotary opens opportunities
.
