UKRAINIAN REFUGEES -- Current Family Needs in Ukraine and Schooling in Warren, Michigan

Three local residents  will discuss Ukrainia Refugee concerns from three personal perspectives focusing on current needs for families in Ukraine and schooling for students moving to the USA and entering Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic School (ICUCS) in Warren.

VERA PETRUSKA is President and Founder of UCARE, Inc., (Ukrainian Children’s Aid and Relief Effort ).  Vera is a frequent vistor to orphanages in Ukraine, organizred humamitarian supply shipments from southeast Michigan to Ukraine in March, and is volunteering two weeks in Poland and Ukraine this May, 2022.   Vera will present photos and stories from her most recent trip and give us an update on the current situation in Ukraine.

VICTORIA MUDRA is an 8th-grade student. Victoria attends ICUCS but has summered in Ukraine and has family actively fighting in the war in Ukraine.  Victoria will talk about her family in Ukraine and also about the 20 student refugees that ICUCS has already welcomed since February 2022.

K. LUBA SAWKA is a UCARE volunteer, ICUCS parent, "Bengal Bots Robotics" Coach, daughter of Ukrainian parents., and a Physician Assistant.   Luba will talk about her own visits to

Orpanages in Ukraine with UCARE and volunteering with student refugees at ICUCS.
