Rotary Club of Pontiac made history with its first Zoom meeting on April 16th.  We want to thank our host Judy for putting this meeting together!  If we don't see your face in the grid, you missed out.  We hope you will join us for the next Rotary Zoom on April 30th!

This is what we learned at our meeting today (note that the names have been omitted to protect the innocent!): one couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and spent time going back through old photos of their wedding and remembering their special day.  Another member shared his struggles of his local business verses the big box stores, and the challenge of the unclear rules set by government.  Another member who works with Pontiac students, shared a bright spot in that she gets to be more involved with the students’ parents now that they work together in a more virtual environment.

One member set up his home office in his basement and is trying to adjust to his “new normal” way of going to work, while another is on a Jack Reacher reading quest, enjoying every moment.  One is still busy as ever, even though the tax deadline has now been extended to July 15th, while another has been focused on his daughters, and admiring all the beautiful sidewalk chalk drawings in his neighborhood as he walks the dog.  The best tip came from the member who adds a certain something to his Wendy's Frosty to make a fast food hummer!  Another suggested a dose of quinine water mixed with a bit of vodka to ensure isolation health!

Some of the viewing favorites are as follows:  On TV, reruns of Frasier, Golden girls, Gilmore girls. For those with streaming capabilities, Ozark, Grace & Frankie, Schitts Creek and Mrs. Maisel came out on top.  Recommended movies were classics of Doris Day, chick flicks and some action adventure.  If you like music, try https://slippedisc.com/2020/03/believe-it-orchestra-plays-beethoven-9th-from-their-homes/

Lastly, something to think of everyday:
  1. Eat a Frog – do something you don’t feel like doing and get it done and over with.
  2. Eat a Cupcake – do something good for yourself.
  3. Move! – just get off your behind and go.
  4. Connect – call / text / email someone you haven’t talked to in a while and make their day.

(Our thanks to Gale for continuing our Pontiac Rotary articles from home!  We appreciate you, Gale!)

Stay safe, all!
