March kicks off "Education" month at Rotary Club of Pontiac! We took a fieldtrip to Oakland Community College's Administration building to have lunch with Chancellor Peter Provenzano. Our gracious host treated us to a yummy lunch, excellent conversation and a peek into the future of OCC and education in general. Chancellor Provenzano shared with the group that OCC has five campus across Oakland County. While each campus has its on distinctive programs of study, they all provide students with a pipeline to further education and or to the job market. Peter spoke to the group about the ongoing demand for trade skills workers and OCC position to fulfill those demands. He shared with the Rotarians, OCC's role as the third pillar in the already developed relationship between the City of Pontiac and Oakland University.
OCC is a partner with us for our annual Career Day, taking place on May 3rd this year. Chancellor Provenzano extended an invitation to the Pontiac Rotary Club to co-host a large scale trade skills day for local Junior High and High school students to introduce them to the various trades.
