Our Pontiac Rotary Club was honored to welcome Michael McGuiness as our speaker. Michael wears many hats in Pontiac, including Pontiac School Board Trustee, Chair of the Arts Commission, Paul Harris Fellow and chief Pontiac cheerleader! Michael works hard to strengthen Pontiac's social infrastructure, ie the social connections between people, organizations and ideas. Research shows that the social infrastructure is key to a growing, successful community.
Michael provided updates on the school district, various Pontiac developments, and two important upcoming events. Pontiac's bicentennial is being celebrated at the Creative Arts Center on Nov 9th, and will cast a hopeful glance at Pontiac's future In addition, Pontiac has become a fall hub for the macabre, re-branding as "Hauntiac" for fun in September and October.
