Our speaker this week was the Director of Bound Together, Michele Wogaman. Michele introduced us to the tutoring program that has serviced the Pontiac community for 27 years. Bound Together originated in response to the needs of students in the neighboring schools, it provides tutoring, a hot evening meal, as well as offering enrichment programing in the arts and healthy lifestyles to elementary and middle school students. Their mission is to create a safe, stable, diverse environment for personal and academic excellence.
Bound Together’s dedicated volunteers and staff provide 1:1 tutoring for students on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with tutors committing to read, to write, to add/subtract and to laugh with a child on a weekly basis. Knowing that families in Pontiac struggle with housing, transportation, employment, food insecurity and educational access, Bound Together’s goal is to support and nurture children both academically and nutritionally.

Bound Together is always happy to welcome new volunteers and partners, if you would like to support a student’s weekly academics, be a caring adult at the dinner table or help with enrichment programs, please visit their website, or email Michele at director@boundtogetherpontiac.org.
