During the first week of November, Davisburg Rotary provided for eye clinic services to indigenous Mayan decedents in remote Guatemala. Davisburg Rotary purchased one of the phoropters used by the doctors, necessary to perform this mission trip.  This phoropter will be used for future eye clinic missions, the next scheduled for January 2019, in remote Kenya.
Davisburg Rotary also supplied two soccer balls to two schools in the area.

Our Sept. 3, 2015 speaker was Becca DeSimpelare, Recreation Superintendent, Springfield Township Parks & Rec.  Becca has been working for the Township since June, 2015.  She has been an excellent addition to the Parks staff.  She will tell us a little about herself and what is going on as part of the Heritage Festival.

Incoming Rotary International President Ray Klinginsmith said "Blessed are those who dream dreams and are willing to pay the price to make them come true" (enfice added).  I first heard those words several weeks ago and again last Saturday but it took a while to sink in.  Are our dreams worth paying for?  How much would you pay to see your dreams come true?

As Rotarians we dream of a world free of Polio, a world where no child dies from contaminated water or malnutrition and a world at peace.  As Rotarians we dream of communities with adequate parks, well stocked libraries, tree lined streets and all residents having enough to eat and proper medical care.  Those are but a few of Rotarians dreams.  Rotary Clubs, Rotarians and friends of Rotary world wide have shown a willingness to pay the price to make their dreams come true time and time again.

No you do not have to be a Rotarian to dream dreams but it helps with dreams as large as the eradication of Polio.  What about you and I and our dreams for our community?  Are we willing to pay the price to make them come true?  The answer has to be yes because our community deserves no less.

Recently, Davisburg Rotary Club contributed a ShelterBox to the global Haiti relief effort. Several members have funded a 2nd ShelterBox. Over 13,000 ShelterBoxes (homes for 130,000 people) have been committed to Haiti.   Each ShelterBox costs $1000 including shipping to Haiti. Each green box includes a 10 person tent, 10 sleeping bags, a stove, cookware, tools, etc. Click on the arrow on the image below to watch a slideshow images from ShelterBox's response to the Haiti Earthquake.  You can also check out the website.
