VOLUNTEERS - where would this world be without them?  1,000's of hours are donated and dedicated to our communities each year by "volunteers" or almost volunteers to make our communities better or at least to make a few lives better.  Men and women that I call almost volunteers like our "paid call" firefighters, local Park, Library,             Planning commissions, Board of Appeals, Board of Review and others may receive a small per diem or other pay but it does not cover their time and expenses typically.  I read recently that "A Volunteer is someone that does not get paid- not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless."

Erma Bombeck said "Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nations compassion, unselfish caring, patience and just plain love of others."  Does that describe people you know or who live in your neighborhood?  Do you see them when you drop your kids or grandkids off at scouts, church or school?  Do you recognize them - our community is full of silent selfless servants.  Tell them thanks next time you see them- it may be the first time in months.  Can you imagine what a sad community and nation we would have without our uselfish servants, our voluteers?
