NO MEETINGS: Because of the holidays, there are no Rotary meetings on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, and on Tuesday, January 2. Next Rotary meeting is Tuesday, January 9, 2018.
PROGRAM: Beth Walker arranged for the Brighton High School Chamber Choir to present a splendid performance.
GUESTS: Sharon Zizka, now a member of the Sunset arm of Brighton Rotary; Jeff Walker, son of Beth.
  • Notice that Ed Bottum slipped and broke his ankle; hopes to be back at meetings in January.
  • Bill Metz told of how area dentists collect gold from patient’s teeth, enough to donated 18,000 bucks to Gleaners whose board matched the gift.
  • Countywide Rotary fundraising event Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Aberrant Ales in Howell: 10 dollar entry fee for a Corn Hole contest.
Formal elections were held for officers and open board positions for 2018-19. Past president will be Terry Gill and president will be Rich Perlberg. Elected Tuesday were Mike Bourke, president-elect; Carole Bullion, treasurer; April Dertian, secretary; Dirk DeWinkle, 3-year term on board; Addison Doyle, 3-year term on board. Terms begin July 2018.
PROGRAM Jeff Beane, an assistant principal at Brighton High School, introduced the 14-member chamber choir. They practice once a week after school. They opened the meeting with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. Later they provided the club with a beautiful concert before hurrying back to class. For those wanting more, they have a concert at the high school on Friday, Jan. 5.
Adrienne, Dennis K. and Frank failed to find the Ace of Spades.
There are no meetings on Dec. 26 or Jan. 2. Next meeting is Jan. 9 and will be a club assembly and will include the induction of new members.
