MEET, GREET & LEARN: Bill Anderson and Kevin Brady were this week’s presenters.  Both are Past Presidents of our Club and both are involved in banking.  Bill Anderson was born in Saline, the oldest of five children. He and his wife Cheryl have two sons and a daughter, and five months ago welcomed a new grandchild. Bill started in the banking industry while still in high school working at National Bank & Trust.  Early in his career he worked in the printing of checks and has been involved in all aspects of banking, currently serving in commercial loans.  Bill’s father was mayor of Saline, and when he passed, Bill was appointed to the Saline City Council as the youngest member at age 35 years.  After accepting a job at First of America, Bill and the family decided to move “North:”  as they exited the expressway to look for a house, the first sign they saw said “Bill Anderson for Supervisor”--he quickly assured his wife that it was not him!  Bill has been a Rotarian 19 years and has served 45 years as a University of Michigan sports volunteer.  Kevin Brady originally joined Rotary in 2001, became Club President, left for a time, and recently rejoined our Club.  Kevin was born in Birmingham and moved to Howell in 1976.  His father owned a machining company in Brighton where Kevin worked while in high school.  While pursuing his Michigan State University degree in material logistics, handling and distribution, Kevin held an internship in San Antonio, TX, making prison locks. After graduation he moved to California and traveled extensively to Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and Texas. Returning home to work in construction, he spent ten years with Grubb & Ellis and then Lee & Associates before joining Chase Bank and now United Bank.
Next week: LuAnn Loy and Greg Gray

ANNUAL MEETING:
President Peggi identified Jeannie McMillan as the winner of the second quarterly Brighton Rotary Volunteer of the Year.  Jeannie’s initiative in organizing the special fundraising events for the Livingston County Humane Society, the 2015 Howell-based Youth Connection Services, and the Thanksgiving meal deliveries certainly garnered this honor!
The election of officers for the 2015-2016 year included nominations to Cathy Riesterer, President; Adrienne Knack, Vice-President; Rachele Evers, Secretary; Bill Markby, Treasurer, Tom Coates, Director; and Bob Murray, Director.  It was moved by Tom Zizka and seconded by Kim Leugers to accept the slate.  The vote was unanimous.

“Light Up Rotary:” John Nagel described making a delivery of the Thanksgiving dinners to a family with a 5-yr-old boy, a 10-yr-old, and a recently passed 8-yr-old girl, whose carpenter father had been laid-off and was working as a handyman, but were having trouble making ends meet.  John’s T2 Girls Softball team has adopted the family and will deliver packages to them to help make the holidays brighter.

Program Host Beth Walker introduced Brighton High School Choral Director Philip Johnson and the male a cappella group Note-torious.  Students singing for us today included:  Zach Casper, leader; John Davis-Stockton; Joe Krinke; Clayton Kovath; Chris Maahs; Garrett McPeek; Jacob Pacek; Patrick Rutkowski, and Clayton Sallee. Several holiday selections were shared with our group: “Sweet Caroline, ” “Hallelujah,” “Take Me to Church,” “The First Noel,” “What Child Is This?,” and “Carol of the Bells.”  Note-torious meets twice a week after school, is student-run, and is busy preparing for the March 7th International Championships of High School A Cappella.
