Program:
Assistant District Governor Brenda Ochodnicky introduced our speaker, District Governor Janet McPeek. Governor McPeek is a licensed Psychologist and a Wayne State University graduate. She joined the Oxford Rotary in 1996, becoming the Vocational chairperson that day. She moved to Lake Orion and started a Rotary Club there. Governor McPeek drew the analogy that Rotary, with its 4-way test, "Service-Above-Self," proud history and principles, is like the 12 notes of a musical scale: each Club gets to take the notes and compose the music that fits their own story and style. For our Club, that includes the ramps built by the Raiders and the 550 Thanksgiving dinners. Governor McPeek introduced the FIFTH avenue of service: New Generations. We need to look for ways to encourage interactions across generations and support activities like RYLA, Youth Exchange, Interact and Roteract. The BRAG (Bridging Rotarians Across Generations) team emphasizes the under-35 Rotarians and looking for new ways to have them participateââ'¬"there is even talk of using SKYPE for meetings! The Family of Rotary recognizes that our families are extensions of our Rotary family and their contributions to our strengths need to be recognized. Paul Harris said that "This is a changing world, and we must be prepared to change with it." Governor McPeek's final thought was that "Rotary is Unity Without Conformity." When she was in Haiti, the villagers said "You (Rotary) are the People Who Come" to helpââ'¬"wear your Rotary pin proudly to proclaim that you are part of our global goals!

Progressive 50/50 Drawing: $756 pot. Michele Bouhana drew an Ace of hearts, Janet McPeek drew a Five of clubs, and Melanie Moses drew a Seven of hearts.
