Program:

Program host Bill Anderson introduced former Brighton Rotarian Larry Lane who has returned as Fire Chief for the Brighton Area Fire Authority.  Larry has 39 years of experience in the fire fighting business, including 12 years in Brighton .  Larry was instrumental along with several other community leaders in organizing the Brighton Area Fire Authority.  The department currently consists of eight full-time people and 85 on-call firefighters.  Each year, the Authority handles roughly 1700-2000 runs, with only 5% of the calls concerning actual working fire runs.  The Fire Authority has jurisdiction over 28 miles of freeway and 30 percent of all runs involve incidents on the freeways.  To become a firefighter, 400 hours of training is required in the first year, and the department spends between $10,000 and $15,000 to equip and train each new member.  In addition, current firefighters each train 4 hours per week.

Progressive 50/50 Drawing:   $191 pot with 49 cards left to search for the Ace of spades.  Tina Eichen drew a King of diamonds, Don Homan drew a queen of hearts, and Bill Anderson drew a ten of spades.  Since none of them found the ace of spades, the $191 pot will roll-over to next week in hopes that someone will find the ace of spades.
