Announcements:

President Jeremy returned from spring break, sympathy abounded after learning how much he missed his cats while gone.

Jane McManus proudly announced her and Mike’s 42nd wedding anniversary.

District Conference:  Board will pay the registration for any member attending.

Rotary Raiders Update:  Brian Donovan announced that the ramp build and repairs at Don Barnowski’s house in Howell was completed yesterday: ramp has been installed along with raising the floor in a back room 2 feet, building a new shower and floor, and installing tile and drywall. Brian read a letter of appreciation that included an invitation to Rotarians for a BBQ at their house on Wednesday 4/20 at 6:00PM.

The ramp build on April 30th for the Labor of Love day is confirmed.

The next Family of Rotary event is scheduled for Thursday, April 21st from 5:30pm at Chilis restaurant in Brighton.  Ten percent of all sales will be contributed to our Rotary Foundation.  Don’t forget to bring the flyer, with contributions counting from 11am to 11pm!

The March of Dimes Walk for Children will be held on 5/1/11 at Kensington MetroPark.  Our Club will once again sponsor Checkpoint 4 with ice cream.

John Nagel announced a fundraiser to support youth softball and baseball.  The event is a suite at a Tigers game vs. the Yankees.  Proceeds will be used to refurbish the ball diamonds.

Nark Cool announced that he will be leading a group by to Peru 6/17 – 6/27 for a follow up to their last trip.  They are asking for any old glasses to be donated.

George Moses thanked Ed Copp for so quickly and expertly fixing his sump pump problem at the George Moses Publications World Headquarters.

Scott Griffith fined essentially everyone for anything from rooting for Kentucky in the NCAA tournament, to rooting for Tiger/Phil/Rory at the Masters, predicting the housing market would have rebounded by now and anyone hoping to win the 50/50.

Program:

Bill Anderson introduced Enna Whitted, the Community Director for the March of Dimes.  Enna spoke to the extreme value of March of Dimes, including it’s creation by President Roosevelt originally designed to wipe out polio in the U.S.  The Walk at Kensington on May 1st has a goal of raising $122,000.   Peggi’s Tuggle and her son Steven spoke about his early struggles as a premature baby and the assistance from the March of Dimes..

 

Progressive 50/50 Drawing:  Rachele Bhathena volunteered to be Tom’s new assistant selling tickets.

 

                                    $755 pot and 30 cards remain.  Steve Belanger drew a Two of diamonds, Tom Zizka drew a Nine of clubs, and Ed Copp drew the Eight of clubs.
