PROGRAM:  Jim Proos is the vice president and chaplain at the Second Chance Program.  He works with released prisoners to help them with the next steps in their lives.  Christian mentors meet with ex-prisoners to help them restart their lives and stay out of jail. The Second Chance Program, Celebrate Recovery, and prison ministries are integrated, helping prisoners and ex-prisoners move on with their lives.  Once a week a mentor meets with an ex-prisoners to provide support them or give them a kick in the pants.  The Second Chance Program is a ministry of encouragement, which is finding that there are more and more female prisoners in need of mentors.

Jennifer Bigelow addressed the need for mentors.  Currently the Program has over 30 people who need mentors, but there are only 20 mentors available.  A mentor’s time commitment is an hour per week. It may be that the client needs a ride to rehab or a ride home.  The client may need to just talk to the mentor about next steps. To learn more about the Second Chance Program a banquet will be held on May 7th at Crystal Gardens.  For those who want to golf for a cause, there will be the second annual fundraising golf outing on September 12th. For more information go to www.secondchancesupportnetwork.org or call 810-522-8174.  Since Second Chance Program is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization, all donations are tax deductible.

50/50 Progressive Drawing:  Anne Belser and Bob Murray were unsuccessful in locating the Ace of Spades, but Tom Coates found the Ace of Spades and gave the money to Jim Proos and Jennifer Bigelow for use by the Second Chance Support Network.
