Cathy Riesterer announced that she will be attending a foreign exchange meeting tonight for the SouthEastern Michigan area to encourage both in or out bound students for youth exchange.  We have 13 students coming to the area this next year and still need host families.  See Cathy if you can volulnteer.

Red Leinkugel New Member Gathering will be held at Leaf, Barley & Vine in Downtown Brighton on Wednesday, April 4th from 5:30-7:30pm.  All new and current members are encouraged to attend!

There will be a brief meeting about Club Bylaws today conducted by Mark Marker with a follow-up meeting next week.

Visiting Howell Rotarian Harry Griffith distributed flyers about the 2012 Annual civic Dinner and Volunteer Appreciation dinner hosted by the Livingston County Salvation Army on April 26th at 6:30pm at the Johnson Center.  Dinner tickets are $30 each, and donations are encouraged to help defray the cost of the dinner for some of the honorees.  More information can be obtained by emailing April_Dertian@usc.salvationarmy.org or calling 517-546-4750, ext. 105.

Rotary International received a $2800 donation from our Club for international projects.  Unfortunately, we didn’t qualify for the Presidential Citation, but it is a goal to seek for next year.  we didn’t qualify for the Presidential Citation, but it is a goal to seek for next year.

Bill Anderson alerted the Club last week that we will be staffing Checkpoint #4 at the March of Dimes Walk on April 29th.   Volunteer sheets will be distributed later next month.  Three vehicles will be raffled to raise money:  a 2012 Buick LaCrosse, a 2012 Titanium Ford Focus Escort and a 2013 American Chopper purple bike.  Raffle tickets will be $10 for one or $20 for three.  See Bill  for more info.

Nancy B. Johnson and President Jane will be attending the Rotary Leadership Institute in Troy on April 14th.

Program:

Program Host Tom Zizka introduced our own Mike McManus, President of MicroWorks Computing, who presented a video montage about cloud computing.  Cloud computing allows access to information stored “on the cloud” from almost any computing device that has internet access.  The cloud allows the translation of a message between different languages and presentations.  Imagine how the cloud could help make Rotarians better and more effective:  through the business of sharing and saving lives, using your time, expertise, skills and smiles we can leverage our knowledge to help others. 

 

Progressive 50/50 Drawing  $305 pot in week 3, 46 cards remain. Brian Wutz drew the seven of clubs, Peggi Tuggle drew the four of hearts, and Bill Metz drew the nine of clubs.
