Rotary Spotlight, October 16, 2018
Joe Petrucci presented his daughter-in-law Alica Petrucci to share her startup organization helping to "Uplift and Comfort all Patients."  The organization is the Unity for Community Cancer Coalition.  Alicia is a 5 year survivor of cancer and decided that if she made it 5 years she would do something to give back.  She is in the formation stages of this organization and is looking for constructive feedback as to the direction of the organization.

The group plans to help patients with daily tasks like yardwork, groceries and meals, and longer term issues that come from the life changing process of surviving cancer.  She has done extensive research on services available to cancer patients and caregivers and has found very few resources in Livingston county.  She believes that the hospitals are doing great jobs, families and friends are very helpful initially and then get burned out.  She is looking to improve the level of care the patients receive outside the hospital.  She believes having and army of hope is as important as medical care.
