6) Volunteer Opportunity - Volunteers needed for Canada's largest vaccination centre in Peel

Please see below for an opportunity to volunteer in a new vaccination centre starting May 26.

There is a need for volunteers for a brand new vaccination centre to be opened in Peel Region (Brampton) this month.  They reached out to Rotary, looking for support.  You can read in the article below that Bruce Power announced a new partnership with Peel Public Health to bring together a coalition of organizations to establish one of Canada’s largest vaccination centres. This will be a Centre not just for Peel Region but the entire Western GTA.

The regional clinic, operated by Peel Public Health at the CAA Centre in Brampton, will be in service later this month and will use a ‘Hockey Hub’ model in an NHL-sized rink. It will provide the region the capacity for thousands of daily vaccines, building on a model used in Grey-Bruce that set a daily national record in April.
The clinic will begin operating for one month in late- May (tentative start date May 26th).  Individuals can register online to volunteer at www.peelvaccinehub.ca  They will be contacted in the coming days with specific dates and times.
Volunteer roles could include:
• Greet and direct individuals arriving at clinic
• Clinical navigator – Direct individuals on where to go throughout the clinic, direct to the next available vaccine bay, etc.
• Traffic attendant – Assist in parking lot area
• Cleaners/sanitizers – Wipe down chairs after individual leaves their vaccine bay
• Floater – Assist with any of the above roles and help cover breaks for fellow volunteers
Tentative volunteer hours would be between 12:30-8:30 p.m. and volunteer shifts could be split into two, 4-hr shifts.
Volunteers will receive required PPE on site. We would ask that they wear a mask upon arrival for safety purposes and they will be provided with a new/different one that meets requirements once inside the building.
