My name is Leeanne Ballinger, Social Convenor of the Inner Wheel Club Sunshine Coast. I am writing to you regarding our upcoming Combined Women's Service Clubs / Volunteers’ Dinner. Please find attached an invitation to any of your lady members to attend. We believe this is just one opportunity for all women service clubs and volunteers to come together and celebrate the work we all do in our local communities. We are very much looking forward to a good response and hearing about “Drought Angels” from our guest speaker.

A little about us - we are the Inner Wheel Club of Sunshine Coast. We currently have thirty five members and meet on the second Wednesday of each month for a general dinner meeting. Our executive committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month. On the third Thursday of each month we hold a working bee to make up birthing kits for underdeveloped communities in PNG and the Solomon Islands. Than on the fourth Wednesday of each month we hold a social get together for lunch

The objects of Inner Wheel are:-

“To promote true Friendship;

To encourage the ideals of Personal Service;

To foster International Understanding”.

As such, we are truly a friendship club that also fund raise to support and assist where we can for those in need of extra support, care and attention – this can be locally, nationally and internationally.

Locally we support – the STEMM Program at Burnside High School (that is Supporting Teenagers Education Mothering and Mentoring) and in the very near future the refurbishing of a Community Room at the Currimundi Special School. Within and across our district we are currently supporting Drought Angels, DV Phones and communities affected by natural disasters (fire and flood).

Inner Wheel Australia’s National Project is Cord Blood Research. To date members nationally, have raised just short of $3.3 million and awarded 56 Research Grants into the use of Cord Blood. Traditionally, a throw away item, Cord Blood is now a valuable commodity used to treat many illnesses and conditions with astounding results. Internationally we have supported: - Rainbow House, Mercy Ships and Days for Girls Charity etc.

We hope this gives you a little understanding of our club and more importantly the temptation to come along and join us for our Combined Women’s Service Clubs and Volunteers’ Dinner on 08 March 2923 (International Women’s Day).
