  • How We Do What We Do

Our community service initiatives are driven by hands-on projects and generous donations. By directly engaging with the community, we ensure that our efforts have a meaningful impact. Volunteers actively participate in a variety of projects, dedicating their time and resources to support those in need. Financial contributions and in-kind donations further enhance our ability to deliver essential services and support to the community.

    Volunteer Hours Goal

We have set an ambitious target to achieve over 400 volunteer hours by the end of June. This goal reflects our commitment to making a significant positive impact through our collective efforts.

    Key Projects

Our projects are diverse and address various needs within the community. Here are some highlights:

  • 12 Days of Christmas Gifts to the Lighthouse Shelter: We provided festive gifts to residents, spreading holiday cheer and warmth.
  • Wellington Square Treat Bags: Four times a year, we prepare and distribute treat bags to the community, ensuring regular support and engagement.
  • Gore Park Van: This mobile initiative helps reach those who cannot come to us, providing essential services and support directly where needed.
  • Red-Green Food Program: This program tackles food insecurity by distributing nutritious meals to those in need.
  • Gordon M Wheelchair Project: We facilitated the acquisition of a wheelchair for Gordon M, enhancing his mobility and quality of life.
  • In total, we have successfully completed 18 projects, working towards our goal of 24 by the end of the year.

    Acknowledgments

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dean for generously offering storage space for the Gore Park initiative free of charge. This support has been invaluable in facilitating our operations and ensuring the success of our projects.

    Upcoming Events and Volunteer Opportunities

  • June 8 – Global Medic Food Packing: We need 4-5 volunteers from each club to assist in packing food for Global Medic. This event is a great opportunity to contribute to a vital cause and support global food security.

  • June 17 – BBQ at Wesley: We are calling for volunteers to help organize and run a community BBQ at Wesley. More details and a formal call for volunteers will be shared soon.

  • October 24 – Senior Centre Volunteering: We need 2-6 volunteers to assist at the Senior Centre. This event will be a chance to give back to our seniors and provide them with the support and companionship they deserve.

  • Through these events and initiatives, we continue to foster a spirit of community and support, working together to make a difference. Your participation and dedication are crucial to our success, and we look forward to achieving our goals together.

Speaker – Timea, Membership

Membership Overview
  • Total Members:** 65
  • Active Members:** 60
  • Corporate Memberships:** 1
Goals for Membership Engagement
While the numbers reflect a healthy membership base, our primary focus is on fostering engagement, happiness, and productivity among our Rotarians. We aim to create a vibrant community where every member feels valued and motivated to contribute to our shared mission.

Membership Drive Initiative
To sustain and grow our membership, we propose a monthly membership drive. Each member will be encouraged to bring one guest to our meetings each month. This initiative aims to introduce potential new members to the Rotary experience, showcasing our activities, camaraderie, and the impact of our service projects.

Mentorship Program
Supporting new members is crucial for their integration and active participation. We are looking for experienced Rotarians to volunteer as mentors. Mentors will guide new members, help them understand the club's culture, and encourage their involvement in various projects and activities.

Reclassification Talks and Membership Minutes
To keep our long-term members engaged and to provide learning opportunities for all, we will introduce reclassification talks. These sessions will allow seasoned members to share their professional journeys and insights, enriching our collective knowledge. Additionally, we will introduce "Membership Minutes" in our meetings, where members can briefly share updates or achievements, fostering a sense of community and keeping everyone informed.

Club Runner Bio Updates
We are issuing a challenge to all members to update their bios on Club Runner. This update will help us better connect with each other, understand our diverse backgrounds, and utilize our collective skills more effectively. An up-to-date bio is also instrumental in mentoring and networking efforts within the club.

Fun as a Priority
Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that our Rotary club remains a fun and enjoyable place for all members. We believe that fostering a joyful atmosphere will naturally lead to higher engagement, stronger relationships, and more productive collaboration. We encourage all members to actively participate in club activities, social events, and service projects, bringing their enthusiasm and creativity to the fore.

By focusing on these initiatives, we aim to not only maintain but enhance the quality of our membership experience. Engaged, happy, and productive Rotarians are the heart of our club, and we are committed to creating an environment where every member can thrive. Together, we can achieve our goals and continue making a positive impact in our community.
