There are only a few tickets left for Wine for Friends.
At the District President’s meeting they discussed an interesting project to send youth to Turtle Lodge on a 4-day program for indigenous and non-indigenous youth (sponsored by RBN).
The District Conference is May 6 at Royal Botanical Gardens.
District 2232 in Ukraine is raising money for generators from North America.

Dream Team Search Rescue & Recovery
Maja introduced Ken since he helped in the search for Dragan’s lost dog, who was eventually found after 6 hours.
Ken was on a rescue all night in Hamilton and will return there after leaving our meeting.
Ken is the Chair, CEO, and Founder of this organization, a federal not-for-profit corporation in Canada. They specialize in finding dogs for free. Labour is volunteer.
Dream Team started in 2015 with 5 people to help rescue a dog that fell off a cliff.
95% of missing dogs come home overall, and 97% of the dogs searched for by Dream Team are reunited with their owners.
Their response team handles 300 cases per year. Their phones respond to another 300/year in other parts of Canada. They advise where to look, how to set traps, and where to get equipment.
They have a range of equipment, including thermal lenses for cell phones, night vision scopes, night vision, and daytime binoculars, IR spotlight, 75’ nets, traps (electronic beam, food bag, trip plate), searchlights, motion cameras, etc. They are looking to rent a 24-hour storage facility to keep the equipment.
They are changing the organization to run more like a volunteer fire department. The training for the role is intense. They are moving to a point system with minimum points required. Points will be used to award gas cards to partially compensate volunteers.
They have 30 officers, and fundraising and social media teams. They plan to add administration staff.
Dream Team also donates pet food on the last Sunday of each month in cooperation with the Knights Templar and Legacy Church teams.
They recently used money originally planned for their restructuring to pay for a nighttime drone that they were offered at a fraction of its nearly $60,000 retail cost.
They are currently rebuilding their funds to properly equip the team and implement their restructuring.
They do not focus on rescuing cats since there are too many.
Most dogs are scared and happy to be rescued.
They have a microchip reader to find owner information.
Huskies are runners! They panic when they lose us. The preferred approach is luring, not trapping.
