The Next Century Gala

The Rotary Club of Brisbane will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of its charter on the 29th May, 2023. To mark this occasion, we will be holding a gala dinner on the 24th May, 2023 at the Howard Smith Wharves function centre in Brisbane City.

This being the centenary year for Rotary in Queensland, much will already have been said about the proud history of Rotary in our state, and we might yield to the temptation to brag a tiny bit about the achievements of our club and all the clubs that trace their charter through our club over the past 100 years, but the focus of the event is to look forward and imagine what can be achieved by Rotary in our next century.

To this end, we have chosen the major beneficiary of the event to be the Rotary International Foundation’s Endowment Fund for Peace Centres. This is a project that brings hope for people living without safety or peace all over the world. We are also very proud to be part of a district that hosts one of the eight Rotary Peace Centres worldwide, and one of the three centres that has been operating continuously since the start of the project.

We are also working with two partner beneficiaries - Australian Rotary Health and Zoe's Angels.

Australian Rotary Health is one of the largest independent funders of mental health research within Australia. Australian Rotary Health provides funding towards research grants, fellowships and PhD scholarships focussed on finding preventative and curative solutions for mental illness in young Australians.

Zoe’s Angels is a Brisbane-based charity, established to raise awareness and funds to help benefit the lives of children diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal conditions. Zoe’s Angels is an organisation that is 100 % volunteer based.

We would be honoured if you chose to join us at an evening that will definatively divide time into "This Century" and "Last Century" where we will imagine a world with attitudes, institutions and structures that foster and sustain a peaceful society and celebrate and support what Rotary and its partners are doing to bring these into being.

The event will feature a superb 5-course feasting menu which will showcase the finest produce from the land and waters of Queensland and a drinks will be provided from 6:30pm until late.
