Bulletin for April 27th, 2017

David Roscoe for Vanessa's Volleyball team win and is off to the Nationals in  Edmonton this weekend.

Lawrence and Doug shared a birthday. Catherine's Mom celebrates her 90th birthday on May 2nd.

Richard for having a lovely weekend with  Wicktor

Gerry for brand new grandchild! Wonderful!

Dana introduced our own Kathy Thomas who spoke to us about blending life, work, love, travel and happiness and if she has learned anything it was that there is no specific time to do a specific thing. Lessons for us all.  Kathy took us through a detailed journey of her life from her early days at a farmer's daughter where the early morning was her best friend. She still adheres to that and gets a very good start on the day even now. God bless you kid!!!!! Kathy and her husband  formed Green Thumb Landscaping after a re-org at Kraft foods. Been there done that.  Unfortunately John passed away suddenly doing something he loved - hockey and Kathy was left to fend for herself. He son in law joined the company and now their roles are reversed -she sells and John "gets her dun"

In 2000 Jack and Kathy married  and in 2003 she opened the Bronze Frog- a lovely garden and art boutique in downtown Oakville.  It lasted 10 years and she has fond memories of terrific clients and good friends acquired through the process. She closed in 2012 due to the economic climate in downtown Oakville but still maintains an on-line presence.

She took the winter off to re-vitalize herself and in her words " a goal is just a  dream without a plan.

While applying for travel insurance she was subject to a medical where she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Not fun. After lots of testing and consultation she decide to go the gastric bypass route . She has regained her stamina, lost a ton of weight and is diabetes free. Well done!

Kathy affirmed her affection for her Rotary family with a small raspberry to Bob Elstone for objecting to women in Rotary! He might be singing a different tune now!

Thanks Kathy- your contributions to Rotary do not go unnoticed and you are appreciated!!
