A much better start to the morning than last week! David Dean, Jamie, Johanna and Andrew handled their duties with aplomb and indeed an international flavour as Johanna recited the 4 way test in Dutch which we all understood of course!
Agustina was our only guest and really at this stage in the game she is family not a guest!
Bryce handed out 2 well deserved Paul Harris pins. Rick Howarth received his second and Bill Clarkson an impressive 8th. Congratulations gentlemen!
Dave Beckett and Rod Collard received pins in recognition of their new member sponsorship of Barb Hislop and Dick Smith respectively.
Bryce reminded us to redeem our grocery frequent flyer points for gift cards to donate to the Partnership West Food Bank. Deadline is June the 23rd.
July 6th is the annual 4 club BBQ at Karl Sury's. Please let Bryce know if you are planning on attending.
We've raised 1700.00 for Fort MacMurray.
Bryce will have an update on our Syrian refugee project after a meeting with a much trimmer Karmel.
Augustina reported on her dancing adventure at Prom. She had a very social week by the sounds of it!
I could fill the page with happy dollars- SAA Lambert must have made out like a bandit. Some of the highlights:
- Carpenter Hospice Hike raised a ton of money during the hike- a thank you from Peter Skoretz for the club's support. If I am reading my notes correctly it was 105K that was raised through the Hike.
- Ron's Team –Breast Foot Forward- raised over 100,00.00 during the Ride to Conquer Cancer. It was a very hot day on Saturday- well done. Andrew asked Ron when he was going to start training!
- Rene reflected on the death of Mohammed Ali citing his admiration and connection to him through the years. Jamie happy to be healthy 5 years after his heart atack. Barb Keck finally met her daughter's in'-laws to be and discovered that she and the Mom are both electric bass players. Could be an interesting wedding.
- Kathy Thomas has had a house full of cousins' which could be construed as both a happy and sad dollar! In this case all happy.
The Board members presented their year end reports and an update on their goals set early in the year. The members were invited to ask any questions whatsoever and after about 20 minutes of discussion the meeting was adjourned.
A reminder that our own BBQ will be in Jamie's lakeside back yard on August 22nd. Put it in you calendars now!
Mike's induction dinner is this Thursday. Looking forward to celebrating the past and the future!
