Wiktor had a good week and spent time at Dean Rutty’s house, skiing at Beaver Valley. He was pleased to find that he could still ski after having mainly snowboarded for so long. Snowshoeing was also on the menu.
Catherine Brady, Sergeant at Arms.
Potential donors to the Mosque are asked to contact Catherine about this.
After a number of fines for various offences and some good fun, Dick Scott suggested that the club should henceforth be known as the Roasting Club of Burlington
Catherine Brady celebrated the fact that her son has recently had a promotion at Dofasco to middle management, a promotion that finally got him his own office!.
The International Rotary Convention will be in Atlanta this year hosting an astonishing 31,000 Rotarians from all over the world. Bill Gates is to be the keynote speaker in Atlanta. The following year it will be held in Toronto.
The Community Leadership training programme will be held on April 22 in Cambridge free for all members in the 7080 district.
Speaker of the Day was our own Gerry Willard who has been open water diving with his wife Dorris since 1989, sometimes more than once a year. They dive largely in the Caribbean but also once in Australia. Gerry has a really simple camera with a flash that is a able to take remarkable pictures underwater and he showed us a wonderful array of different creatures each one seemingly more extraordinary than the last. We didn't see any self portraits of the divers. Even though the temperature of the water is usually about 82° they wear wetsuits as ultimately the body’s core becomes chilled even at that temperature. Unfortunately from the point of view of this bulletin it was a case of “you really had to be there”! The pictures were remarkable.
Thanks went to Gerry for the whirlwind tour of the extraordinary underwater world that so few of us ever sees.
