Bulletin for December 7th, 2017

I am so sorry for the tardiness of the bulletin. Told you I was having a schmozzz of a week. Lost my notes, then found them then promptly forgot again. A very small turnout last Thursday- only 24 members. But alt least there was more than a half a muffin or everyone!

PP Michael took the meeting in Janet's absence. A few MIA''s on the roster including Roy who thought he was the SAA instead of set-up! Nonetheless we muddled through.

A few very important announcements.

1. Tomorrow night is the Adult Christmas Party being held at Lawrence's Party Room at 360 Pearl. 21.00 per person and I don't remember a time being mentioned.

2. The Annual Children's Christmas party with a guest appearance by Santa is next Thursday morning. It usually starts a bit early but we can find that out tomorrow. Please be prepared to let Allan know how many will be attending from your family so we can be well prepared. Remember to bring a wrapped gift for your youngsters and clearly mark their name on it. Santa ain't getting any younger!!! I think is was 25.00 per adult and 12.50 per child.

3. June 25th is the date of our Home Hosting event at LaSalle Pavilion as a part of the Rotary International Convention. Space is limited and we almost have a full house. Please be sure to let the committee know if you wish to attend. A non-refundable deposit will be required in the New Year. cost is 100.per person. More details to follow.

4. We are also collecting grocery gift cards for our Christmas Giving project. Please bring them in tomorrow and next week. Cash donations are also welcome and Leslie looked like she had several of those given to her then and there.

Allan kindly filled in as SAA -many thanks Allen- and proceeded to fine Roy for his mix-up about his responsibilities. He tried to fine John Allinotte but John beat him to the punch and let us know that he would be gone until April. But before he leaves he is going a road trip to Sault Ste. Marie for his sister's 80th  birthday and then on to the 'Peg to celebrate and early Christmas. Wow you know how to pick them John!

Jamie presented Glenn with a package of AssMaster for his hard work on the Concert. Don't ask or should I say don't ass!!!

Albert has sold his building and will be retiring in roughly 2 years time.  Still lots of time to shop people!!!!

Our guest speaker Bruce Outridge came to us through Sheila who met him at a Compassion society event. He is an author, professional cartoonist, TV host and had a past career as a long distance trucker. He currently helps individuals and corporations produce and promote good digital content.

He spends a lot of time devoted to inspiring young people. He himself was a high school drop out. He was perpetually being punished for drawing in school so decided he didn't need that any more. He stated driving long distance trucks and spent 25 years in the industry. He ended up as a leader of a fleet and hated that and left. He decided to finish his High school education and at the age of 40 graduated!

His philosophy is that inspiration is circular. His message is inspire, connect and grow. His Cogeco TV show ;highlights youth and their achievements in the city. David Vandenburg was his first guest on the show. David is keenly involved with the Compassion Society.

He mentioned the HEIC Leadership for Men series. It is an opportunity to connect with young men and share stories of both successes and failures and mentor them as they navigate their futures.  He believes that we should be encouraging them to get started ,inspire them with opportunity and show them people who have done it.  Not a bad plan.

See you in the morning!

Will Pugh is our guest and will be talking about RI.
