The Community Service Breakfast is a 4 Club initiative to celebrate us! People of Action doing what we do best. A great Rotary morning for the first of many on the new forum.
The morning opened with O’ Canada led by John Zinkie of the Burlington North Club. Blessing our food with The Rotary Prayer was Bert Radford. A Toast to the Queen and Canada by Nancy Penney.
Breakfast was our traditional Rotary feast with Pancakes and French toast added.

Opening remarks from Bernard Scrivener were from his heart. A few short words on the history of this event and the reasons for changing the date to September with a new agenda.
This is an opportunity for the Clubs to meet each other's Presidents and see what each Club has going on in their Rotary year. Each club submitted pictures of Rotarians at work in the community and internationally.

Leading us was Burlington North President - Mary Brady, Burlington Lakeshore President - Ute Lindner, Rotary Club of Burlington President - Elaine Matthew, ending with our very own President - David Roscoe.

Carolyn Ferguson gave us a short introduction to the Rotary Foundation and The Paul Harris Society. By giving from your heart each and every year, you’ll support families and change lives. Burlington Central is a sustaining Club. $100 yearly from our dues is sent to Rotary international in each contributor’s names. When you reach $1,000, you are a member of The Paul Society.
A special presentation was given to Kathy Thomas for reaching her Diamond Level contribution to The Paul Harris Society. Gifts from compassionate donors do so quietly. Most are not recognized. Today, we honoured one of our own. Presenting her Pin and The medallion was Carolyn Ferguson, DG Lesley Barmania and David Roscoe.
Gil Garbus, Burlington North Club, announced the Rotary Beer Next Steps. The 4 Burlington Rotary Clubs will be joining together to get this fundraising initiative up and running. A launch is being planned. Representatives from the 4 Clubs will be organizing this event along with Wellington Brewery. No, it will not be at a breakfast meeting!
Giving Thanks from Mayor Marianne Mead Ward. We could not have asked for a better note of appreciation for all that Rotary does in our community and around the world. She was happy to be a part of the Rotary family breakfast and recited the 4-way test.
Closing remarks from District Governor Lesley Barmania was the perfect ending for this Rotary Breakfast. Lesley brought greetings from the District and announced the October 30, 2019 dinner meeting being held at the Holiday Inn in Burlington.
Ending with the Rotary - 4 Way Test - Of the things we think, say and do. Is it the Truth, Is it fair to all concerned, Will it build goodwill and better friendships, Will it be Beneficial to all concerned!
A great fellowship morning to start the day!
