Jun. 22, 2017
Hello everyone~ As President-elect it is my pleasure to plan the Induction Dinner-and these plans are well underway. Please mark your calendar for the evening of Thursday, June 22nd. The dinner is being held at the Burlington Art Gallery and catered by Heavenly Gourmet. I know Christina well and can promise a wonderful meal! I am also excited to share that Dean Rutty will be our Master of Ceremonies. I invited him as he is the Rotarian who introduced me to our Rotary Club back in 2010 and he is fondly remembered as a member, and Past President - I know he is looking forward to joining us and seeing familiar faces.
Lawrence Leung. President-elect is handling ticket sales which will begin early June and Leslie Alison and Ron Lambert have both graciously offered their support. Assistant District Governor for 7080 John Zinkie will be in attendance and perform the "official" Rotary duties. Bernie is here to help me-so nothing will go amiss...Thanks to you all!
Please mark the date in your calendars and plan to join us as we thank Mike for his service as President, introduce your 2017-18 Board of Directors and SAA. I am truly looking forward to serving you and our club as President and accept the challenge of RI President-Elect Ian Risely as stated in his slogan- 'Rotary Making a Difference". |

gender inequality and extreme poverty
Oct. 19, 2017
My name is Sam and I am an Associate on the Community Events & Organizations team at Plan International Canada in Toronto. As you may know, Plan International Canada is one of the largest charities in Canada and a world leader in the fields of gender inequality and extreme poverty. Our Because I am a Girl initiative is a global movement to address power relations to help girls learn, lead, decide and thrive. I know that our global goals align very well - like Plan International Canada, Rotary Club addresses global issues such as disease eradication and maternal and newborn health. I applaud your organization for its dedication to providing humanitarian service, here in Canada, as well as internationally. The purpose of my note today is to introduce myself and Plan International Canada as we are currently in the midst of one the most exciting times in our 80 year history! We have launched a five-year strategic plan that hopes to reach 20 million children and inspire 8 million actions from Canadians. We want to ignite a new movement in Canada and around the world. In order to achieve this ambitious goal, we hope to improve our partnerships with like-minded organizations across Canada. Given our similar missions, I would be honoured to have the opportunity to attend one of your meetings to formally introduce myself and speak about the work that Plan International does on the global stage. It is always so wonderful spending time with like-minded individuals that are just as passionate about changing the world as we are! I understand that you book your speakers well in advance so please do not hesitate to suggest a time that may seem quite far in the future. |
