• Our musical interlude by Ernst Oidtmann included our Rotary Welcome song and song requested by his granddaughter Luna. The Fox Went Out on a Chilly Night
• Bruce Bergeron’s Thought of the Day came from President John F. Kennedy: Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.
• Birthdays: Bruce Pacht – August 22^nd
• Wedding Anniversary – Jim and Lisa Damren, 31 years.
• Rotary Anniversary:   Curtis Payne, 4 years; Tyler Hagan, 1 year

Little Rebels

•  A very special Paul Harris Fellowship presentation for Luna Emilija Veitas, Ernst Oidtmann's Granddaughter. Ron Bedell had the honor of presenting this Paul Harris Fellowship with a very proud grandfather Ernst Oidtmann…Ernst said that the grandchildren call him Grandhout. Now every child and grandchild in his family has been been named a Paul Harris Fellow!

• District 7850 Regional Meetings: Bruce is encouraging all of us to consider attending one of the upcoming meetings:
  • September 12, 2026, in Montpelier at the Dewey Building on the campus of National Life
  • October 3, 2026, in North Conway at the Gibson Center
  • October 24, 2026, in Sherbrooke, Quebec, French

  • November 14, 2026, South Burlington Recreation Center

• Brewfest: We still need about a dozen volunteers.  Can you ask friend or colleague to help us?  Let Bruce Bergeron know if you have identified someone to help.
• Brewfest: A few more lawn games are needed, such as cornhole, Giant Jenga and and Ladder Toss.  If you have one or more to donate for the day, let Bruce Bergeron know.
• Next Brewfest meeting will be Tuesday, August 28, 2026, at noon, at Service Credit Union on Mechanics Street.
• Monarch Butterfly/Milkweed Planting – Prework at Riverside Park completed.  Now on to planting milkweed on September 3, 2027, at 2:30 PM.  If you can help plant milkweed, let Phil Rentz know you will be there.
• President’s Picnic – Save the date…Sunday, September 27^th from 11 AM to 2 PM. To be catered by Jake’s… thank you Bruce Bergeron.
• Social Event at Salt Hill – 6 members and one guest gathered at Salt Hill on Monday, August 17^th.
• Dwinell Storage Room sorting, organizing, cleaning, etc. on September 18 starting at 8:30 AM…ending when done, or we have had enough. So far, Marilyn, Angela, John, Jane have signed up.  If you can help let Marilyn Bedell know.
• Flu Vaccine Clinics 2026 – Volunteers Needed

Our flu vaccine clinics have been scheduled for the fall. I value the support the Lebanon Rotary Club has provided over the years and wanted to give you first crack at filling volunteer slots. Please know I have other volunteers to pull from, especially for clinics farther from Lebanon, so I have no expectation the club will fill all the slots or even have a presence at all the clinics. We just appreciate your help where you can give it.

Happy Dollars

Bruce Pacht is downsizing in preparation for the arrival of his son, Archer and granddaughter. He is grateful for the help he has received from Bruce Bergeron and Bill Chabot who helped move his desk and a table from the second floor to the first floor. He loves Rotarians willingness to help.

John Stalvey is celebrating the 1^st anniversary of living in Canaan.  He and Marcy celebrated with a lovely meal and champagne.

Ernst Oidtmann was celebrated by the Conservation Commission for his years of service with a resolution that had many “whereas”.

Hank Clarke spent the weekend with longtime friends in Westport MA.  His friends are now headed to Europe for a river cruise that has turned into a bus tour do to the water level in rivers being too low for tour boats…they are getting airfare free, and 50% off their next cruise.

George Wentz – shared his great-grandson’s name is William.  At the moment his is being called “W”.  George trying to come up with other nicknames.

Christina Annas is back from her two week trip to southern Europe.  She toured a cave on her birthday; she went truffle hunting; took many tours; saw the total eclipse of the sun at a castle; stayed at a hotel in France that hid Jewish people during WWII.  The Gestapo quit hunting one home away from this residence…thus lives were saved. She is now home and told us she has milkweed in her yard, and she saw three caterpillars getting ready to create cocoons. She is getting a head start on monarch butterfly conservation.

Carol Keefe had a closing and donated $50 to Charities.

Ron Michaud told us about a set of the original Ben Hogan golf clubs that had wood made with persimmon. He has given them to the Golf pro at Baker Hill. Before parting with the clubs, he kissed each one goodbye, and then hugged the golf bag, and finally hugged Rick.
