Joann Lemieux reminded everyone that Bill Sahlman, a former member of the Riverside Rotary Club, will be escorting a group of Rotarian motorcyclists from Italy for a meet-and-greet at Riverside Park in West Lebanon on Wednesday, September 28 at 5:00 p.m. JoAnn will be providing sandwiches, salad, and chips. Bring you own beverage, and bring an additional side dish, snack or dessert. Please RSVP yea or nay. Instruction were sent to do this via email to JoAnn.
STRYOFOAM™ COLLECTION — Bruce Bergeron
Our next Styrofoam™ Collection Day will be October 29th at Jake Coffee Shop in Lebanon.
Sustainable Lebanon is once again partnering with the Lebanon Rotary Club to offer a polystyrene (styrofoam) collection day on Saturday, October 29, from 9 - 11 am at 227 Mechanic Street in Lebanon (behind Jake’s Coffee). The event will take place rain or shine.
We will be collecting clean rigid polystyrene #6 (EPS) and #6 food service foam which will be driven to the Gilford, NH recycling facility. Examples of EPS include packaging foam used for TVs and appliances as well as styrofoam coolers. Examples of food service foam include food containers, trays, cups, and egg cartons. It is important that all tape and labels be removed and all collected foam is clean, dry, and free of food residue or other debris.

Sustainable Lebanon Styrofoam™ Collection on October 29, 2022
Sustainable Lebanon and the Rotary Club of Lebanon, NH will once again partner with Sustainable Lebaonon to bring Styrofoam Recycling to our area on October 29,2022. Sustainable Lebanon is a 501c3 nonprofit organization which helps volunteers organize environmental actions. We work to keep local residents informed on local issues related to the environment, energy, and climate. Sustainable Lebanon supports actions that are meaningful to community members

In the western region of Galilee, the Rotary Club of Jerusalem, Israel, brings together 50 Jewish and Arab students from four schools to talk about their similarities and differences. The peace education program, designed and led by a former Rotary Peace Fellows, is supported by a global grant from The Rotary Foundation. The Jerusalem club has been focused on peace since its charter in 1929. It is just one example of how Rotary members around the world are working to build peace. Why eradicating polio is so important
The recent detections of polio in Israel, the U.K., and, most recently, New York, USA, underscore the importance of Rotary’s efforts to eradicate polio. As long as the polio virus exists anywhere, it remains a threat to children and adults everywhere. Learn what Rotary and our partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative are doing to elevate awareness of the importance of vaccinations and protect children from this disease.
Following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the GPEI paid tribute to Her leadership, steadfastness and commitment to service and recognized His Royal Highness King Charles III’s support for polio eradication. Read more…
For the last two decades, the prospect of sending 16 visiting polio experts out across the provinces of Afghanistan would have been impossible but from 6 to 19 June 2022, WHO Afghanistan’s polio eradication programme did just that. Their mission? To review the country’s polio surveillance system, assess its functionality at all levels and make specific recommendations for maintaining and improving surveillance quality.
