Members of the news media had gathered, along with the mayor of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and a group of Rotary members, on the bank of the murky Detroit River. It was early August and the members were about to amaze the reporters on hand.
Jason Browne and Adam Barth, members of Rollin’ With Rotary, a four person team of Rotary members who visited a dozen cities this summer, dipped a bucket into the polluted water. The reporters watched as they poured the brownish water into a filter, part of a $1,000 survival kit that Rotary and its project partner ShelterBox distribute to disaster victims...

“Primarily Rotary seeks to apply the theory of service to business and community life....This is expressed in the first part of our code of ethics: To consider my vocation worthy and as affording me a distinct opportunity to serve society. He Profits Most Who Serves Best is a less ideal expression, but the suggestion of egoism is removed by the added words, Service Above Self.”

CAP was Federally Chartered 501c3 in 1947. It is a volunteer organization and at the end of World War 11, CAP became the auxiliary of the United States Air Force. It runs three programs: Emergency Services, Cadet Programs and Aerospace Education. It is 80 % funded by the Air Force and the remaining 20% is funded through membership dues, state contributions and fundraising.
The Glider Academy provides the young cadets the opportunity to experience gliding and soaring through orientation flights and glider flight training.
Excerpted from Walter Hughes email on completion of this project:
We impacted 28,890 lives with this one project. We have $750,000 worth of projects that were started since your visit to Ghana. The summary of the project is:
We exceeded most of our goals. We completed twelve boreholes and one hand dug well. We repaired thirty-two boreholes instead of fifteen. We bought seventy-nine tablets instead of six desktop computers for four schools instead of just one school. We completed 116 microflush toilets instead of 131 toilets. We funded more computer labs than our plan. The project budget was $111,224.
This photo was possible because you cared enough to transform lives of children with a new borehole and wells. THANK YOU! Our new team leaves on Thursday for Ghana. The original photos showing the work and the signage for your clubs can be viewed at this link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/koyjvm3g48oyakr/AADGhnW0v8OzkZRpK6qDcsmea?dl=0 . You can download the Dropbox software at www.dropbox.com/download. The final report is attached as well as the photograph of the children at the well.
