The Rotary month of June starts off this Thursday, June 6, with a noon club meeting in the Dwinell Room!
Moorings:
If variety is the spice of life, Lebanon Rotarians tasted plenty of turmeric and oregano in their meeting schedule this month. From a displacement to Salt hill (smoothly handled by Josh Touhy’s staff), to the luxury of the Woodlands’ dining hall, to the rolling greens of the Eastman Golf Links, to the smell of luncheon hot dogs in Lebanon’s first-grade classrooms—what a long, strange journey the month of May has been (to change the metaphor). In a month of five Thursdays, we held only one meeting in the Dwinell Room—in preparation for the Annual Bedell Golf Classic in Grantham.
The distribution of first-grade readers took place this week. Steve Christy, John Yacavone, JoAnn Lemieux, Dean Cashman, Marion Steiner, and Steve Whitman shepherded the process at the Hanover Street School in a visit slightly delayed in order to give hungry students time to finish their hot dogs. Bruce Bergeron, Ernst Oidtmann, Angela Nelson, Bill Secord, Willie Koppenheffer, and Phil Rentz performed the same function at the Mount Lebanon School.
The annual tradition of receiving personalized books of their own once again excited the occupants of the six classrooms visited by club members. The photos below help capture how engaged the students become in the books we distributed.

Farmers Market Booth
EVERY THURSDAY IN COLBURN PARK
We have a booth at the Farmers Market from now until Brew Fest. It will be an opportunity for us to showcase Rotary in Lebanon and to promote the Brew Fest. Farmers Markets are on Thursdays from 3 p.m. to approx. 7 p.m. Two Rotarians are needed each market. See Don MacMeekin to Sign-up now!
Posters and tickets for Brew Fest are available. See Marion or Suellen if you have places you can hang them. We will start selling tickets today at the Farmer's Market.
Rotary Friendship Exchange—Team from Calgary, Alberta, Canada
An easy way to experience the internationality of Rotary
Two Requests:
Would you willing to host two members of our Friendship Exchange Team in October? They are coming from Calgary, Alberta Canada. They will be with us from October 14 through 19. The Randolph Rotary Club will be transferring them to us at some point on the 14th, and we will be taking most team members to Dartmouth Coach at the end of their stay. We don't have a set schedule yet, but we would be asking you to provide breakfast most mornings and some dinners. There will be some group meal too. It would be helpful if you could get them to central meeting points on sightseeing days, but we can come up with other plans if needed.
Drivers needed for sightseeing days (October 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18). You can drive one day or multiple days.
If you can participate in this adventure, please let Steve Whitman or Marilyn Bedell know.
Sherry's committal service will be Saturday, June 8, at the Danville Green Cemetery at 2 p.m., followed by a celebration of her life at the white house (144 Morrill Road...Danville). Kristin is flying home for the service, and Jamie will be finished with school and remodeling at the house will be far enough along so if it rains we have enough room inside.

Fond memories of the 2019 Annual Bedell Golf Classic:
Some club members handled the water hazards in different ways. When the timer turned on the sprinkler system to water the greens at the Eastman Golf Links, Bruce Bergeron refused to take a Mulligan. He just popped up his umbrella.

A New Pocket Pantry in Lebanon
Under the leadership of Annabelle Stott, our Rotary Interact Club has made a difference in our community. At the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, Annabelle thanked supporters and dedicated the Pantry to the late Susan Donnelly. Susan was a former Lebanon School Board member, a long-time Rotarian, and co-advisor of the Interact Club with Joy Gobin. When she passed away this Spring, Annabelle knew she wanted to dedicate it to Susan. She stated, “Sue Donnelly was an asset to all of us and it breaks my heart that she is not here today to see how this Pantry that she supported so much turned out. However, Sue’s daughter, Jackie, LHS Class of 2007, has joined us today, and I am so grateful for that.” Many of Donnelly’s friends also attended the ceremony.
Annabelle also thanked Ababa Construction, John Carey, Granite State Glass, Home Depot, LaValley’s, Mrs. Gobin, Angela Zhang from Listen, and her parents. The Interact Club presented Jackie with a Peace Plant, and Lebanon Rotary awarded Sue Donnelly its highest honor—the Paul Harris Fellow.
It was a remarkable achievement, and we send congratulations and gratitude to Annabelle, the Interact Club, and Joy Gobin, with fond memories of Susan Donnelly.
