Our speaker to day was Ryan Sinclair who helped us celebrate youth service. Ryan is a middle school teacher at Cardigan Mountain School and a former Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar who studied in Grenoble France from 2006 to 2008,
Prior to the start of his presentation, we took time to celebrate the four students from Lebanon High School who attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Award conference at Northern Vermont University in Lyndonville, VT in June 2022. The students who attended RYLA are:

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is provides student an intensive leadership experience over a weekend. It is organized by our Rotary District. The goal is to help participants develop their skills as a leader while having fun and making connections.
Our Rotary District provides rising Juniors to connect with leaders in our region to:
- Build communication and problem-solving skills
- Discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in your school or community
- Learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors
- Unlock your potential to turn motivation into action
- Have fun and form lasting friendships
This conference is planned by former RYLArians under the supervision of Rotarians from various clubs in our District.
We heard from each student who reflected on the experience. The conference was described as amazing, unique and impactful. We learned that they:
- prepared 20,000 meals for Feeding America;
- performed or supported a talent show that encouraged them to step out of the comfort zone in a variety of ways;
- participated in a variety of leadership experiences that brought out the best in each participants...they were encouraged to be their best;
- developed relationships with others from around our region, and a few now have new friends in VT, NH and Quebec;
- gained insight into their leadership style, and how different styles can be complimentary.
