International Service is what distinguishes Rotary from other regional. national and international service organizations.  Even before Rotary added 'International' to its name with the Rotary Club of Winnipeg joining the US clubs in 1910, Rotarians were providing service beyond their own communities.

The Plattsburgh Rotary Club reaches beyond the North Country providing support both monetarily as well as through individual hands-on service in places like Nicaragua where we have partnered with other Rotary clubs on various projects.  Our Global Grant project in 2008 partnered with the Rotary Club of Managua and the Rotary Club of Bergen-Highlands-Ramsey (NJ) building 204 latrines for families and schools.

We have also participated in District Simplified as well as District Matching Grants with the Plattsburgh Sunrise Rotary Club completing the Paul Harris Public School in Managua, Nicaragua; desks and chairs for teachers at the Chiquilistagua Public School with the Sunrise club; installation of a water tank and tower at the Chiquilistagua Public School; community garden established at the Chiquilistagua Public School to supplement their feeding program; water tanks installed to provide potable water throughout the academic year and to allow expansion of the feeding program at 3 other public schools in the Chiquilistagua region outside of Managua.

Any club member can join this committee which meets about 3 times per year.  Contact the current Chair, Bonnie Black, for more details: bonnie.black@rotary7040.com.
