She grew up in rural Minnesota with a passion for reading and creative writing,

In the mid-1980s, a job at a small-town weekly newspaper set the stage for her 25-year career as an award-winning reporter and editor. Just before the turn of the century, she moved to Michigan, won a few journalism awards, spent a few years in public relations, got mixed up in online news, and – during National Novel Writing Month, no less – revised a 20-year-old, abandoned manuscript that became Above the Fold

Now she can't stop writing!!!

Today she is a local independent online news publisher http://farmingtonvoice.com and novelist, and lives in Farmington, Michigan.

Experienced journalist with a successful track record in the online media industry and a passion for writing and publishing mystery fiction. Skilled in Search Engine Optimization (SEO), WordPress, Media Relations, News Writing, Copy Editing, and Communications.

Collinwood Media publishes Farmington Voice, which provides an informative, entertaining, daily source for news about the cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills, Michigan. Joni developed and publishes the website to connect people in her (our) community with empowering information, and to offer businesses an affordable and effective way to share their brand message with people who love to buy local.

She tells cheese stories, hands people samples of cheesy goodness, and helps owners of this small business (The Cheese Lady) attract and retain customers.
