Captain Jay Davis congratulated Grand Haven Rotary for winning the challenge to collect more bell-ringing dollars than The Spring Lake Rotary Club. The Grand Haven bell ringers raised over $900 at D&W on Wednesday, December 12, beating Spring Lake's total at Orchard Market by over $300. Thanks, Jay, for allowing us to participate in such a worthwhile community project.
During November and December each year, the local Salvation Army raises approximately $25,000 in the red kettles, and it’s all because of people and groups who volunteer.
Kevin Galbavi reminded everyone about the Sleepwalker Run which will be held on January 26, 2019. See Jill Argetsinger if you would like to be a $300 sponsor. Registration fees are $25 for adults and $15 for high school students.
Board meeting update - The first after-hours social event was held on Thursday, December 13, at K2. The casual, Rotary get-together was enjoyed by 25 Rotarians and their guests. More event like this will be scheduled! Think about bringing a prospective member to the next event!
Morning meeting is held the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Meetings are at 126 Columbus - Riopelle Building.

Kelly Larson introduced the December Students of the Month. This month's sponsors are Kelly Larson and Erick Kaelin.
Madison Chapel has been very involved with the Chalkboard Project at Grand Haven High School. The purpose of the project is to "change the way we speak to one another." Working with her teachers and teammates on this project has contributed to Madison's personal growth and involvement with fellow students. After graduation, Madison wants to pursue a career in nursing. She plans to major in nursing and minor in Spanish at either Michigan State University or the Northern Illinois University.
Christopher Akselberg has been active in a number of sports at Grand Haven High School. He has been captain of the boys tennis and swim teams and a four-year member of the Catalina Club. He has been a member of DECA club for two years and was the Junior Class president last year. He plans to pursue a degree in Business Administration or Finance Management after graduation. Chris's grandfathers were proud Rotarians in Montreal, Canada and Norway.
No one won the raffle $290 rolls over to next meeting.
