Blessings in a Backpack donations are being accepted for the Christmas school break. Plastic peanut butter and jelly jars OR bring money and give to Pat McGinnis or Jay Greer.

 

Dan updated the club on the history of the Mission and the services provided today. The Mission is a faith-based organization that recently opened a new Women's center, allowing space for children and families. On average, approximately 60 men and 60 women, along with children, seek shelter from the Mission. From the Mission's website, http://muskegonmission.org, "Muskegon Rescue Mission is the largest provider of continuous emergency shelter services in West Michigan. Since 1907, food, shelter, clothing and spiritual direction has been provided to men, women and children experiencing homelessness."

 

The Mission is supported through direct donations and also operates a food pantry and three thrift goods resale store. The Mission works closely with Muskegon Community College and Baker College to provide vocational training to those who want to take advantage of it.
