Club President Installation Ceremony - Today's program featured Gernot Runschke, Rotary District Governor, inducting Dale Swihart as the new club President.

 

The incoming Board officers were welcomed and sworn in by Gov. Runschke.

 

Dale thanked Brook Bisonet for his past-year's duty as club President, thanking Brook for his leadership and guidance of the club over the last year.

 

Dale announced that he had emailed a fundraising suggestion form to all members. If you have suggestions for local fundraising projects please get them to a Board member by August 8. Ideas will be discussed by the Board at their August 11 meeting.

 

New Rotary Member -- Michelle Bailey-Mesler, CEO of Tri-Cities YMCA was welcomed by Brook Bisonet as the World's Newest Rotary member. Michelle will have two freshmen and 1 senior at GHHS this year. Welcome Michelle!

 

Rotary Youth Exchange Conference -- Gernot Runschke reported on this recent conference whihc was attended by 600 - 700 young people -- both in and out bound students.

 

 

Adopt a highway - Pat McGinnis announced the next US-31 cleanup will take place on Saturday, July 23, beginning at 8am. Volunteers meet at Burger King.

 

Flag Installation - McGinnis also announced US flags will be installed along Beacon Blvd on Coast Guard Saturday Aug 6, beginning at 7am. Volunteers meet at Burger King.

 

Coast Guard Parade - Volunteers are needed Saturday August 6 to walk beside the float and hand out candy.  A few additional volunteers are requested to sit in the canoe, wave to the crowd, and replenish candy supplies to the walkers.  

Rotary International Convention - Gernot Runschke announced that in 2017 the Rotary International conference will be held in Atlanta. Members interested in attending should contact Gernot.

 

Pancake Breakfast - Gail Ringelberg urged everyone to mark the date of Sunday, July 31, for the annual Rotary Pancake breakfast at Talmer Bank.

 

50/50 Raffle Tickets - Today's drawing -- $99 to the winner and $205 for charity. No winner this week so it rolls over to the next meeting.

Jay discussed changes to the board of directors; specifically Dale Swihart’s induction as the new president, John Heritage to handle public relations, and Andy Ingall to coordinate New Generations.  Jay also announced that members are being asked to share ideas for causes they would like the G.H. Rotary to support; 75% of funds toward local projects and 25% toward international endeavors.  Dale Swihart will send an email to all members. 

 

Jay shared the history of the morning meeting's inception and the initial energy this group provided to our club as a whole.  The Winter Run and the D'Vine events were conceived by Tuesday participants and he encouraged morning members to once again find that autonomous spirit by taking the initiative to develop new ideas for serving our community and increasing total membership.  It was also suggested that a liaison from both the noon and morning meetings share updates with both groups.
