Grand Haven High School - Rita McClary, Drama Program Director
Rita, her set designer, and students offered information on the technical side of their recent musical, Jekyll and Hyde. Rita said it is important for students to participate in a variety of drama - this expands their skill set and teaches them all aspects of theater. She also commented that her students are trained to perform according to professional acting guidelines. Students are actively involved in the practice of building a set that can travel. The preferred material is actually cardboard and can become quite sturdy when it is layered. Students and the set will travel to Saginaw Valley State University to perform. GHHS is the state champion in musical drama this year.
