The Chamber was able to pivot over the last year to offer online services. Working with the schools, Nancy Manglos has been able to inform local kids (virtually) on the vast array of careers available in the area for our kids. Ellie Passorelli presented an overview of the two local farmer's markets in our area which are managed by the Chamber. Randal Stewart manages the Farmer's Markets in GH and SL. The GH market began in 1979 and has space for 42 vendors. Spring Lake market began in 2004. Over a ton of produce was donated to Teens in Action and Love in Action for food pantries from vendors that donated excess produce at the end of the market days. The GH market opens Saturday, May 1 and expands to Wednesday and Saturdays beginning June 3. The SL market will kick-off on Thursday, June 3. Courtyard Concerts sponsors a free concert at the GH market every Saturday. In 2020, about $200,000 in Dune Dollar certificates were sold by the Chamber. Creation of the GH farmers market was a donation from Rotary which donated money to create it. With construction beginning soon on the new Peerless Flats housing project, parking on the old Stanco property may not be available this summer. |
