Geri McCaleb, The State of the City

Mayor Geri McCaleb presented an update on the state of the city of Grand Haven. Goals for the fiscal year starting July 1 are still being finalized but Geri presented an overview of projects the City is looking to undertake within the next 18 months.

In 2018, Harbor Drive will be rebuilt from Columbus to Franklin and in Spring 2019 North Shore Drive will be reconstructed, including making the road safer for pedestrians and bikers.

Lynne Sherwood stadium rebuild is on schedule and should be open in June. Completion of the pier resurfacing and catwalk restoration may finish this year too, depending on weather conditions and water levels. Additional work on restoration of the Coal Tipple may also happen this year.

Looking to the future, the City is working on replacement of the Sims electric generating plant, reuse of the airport property and other long-range items.
