GH Dept of Public Safety Director Jeff Hawke.
 
Chief Hawke presented an overview of Public Safety preparations and activities during Coast Guard week. A number of local and regional agencies provide assistance to GH Public Safety during this week. Activity on CG Saturday is about double or triple a typical summer Saturday. There were no serious incidents this year with the couple hundred thousand visitors during the week.

Rotary Participation in Coast Guard Week - Pres. Dale thanked all the volunteers who participants who took a part in the 2016 CG festivities.
 
Club Board of Director's Meeting - 7:30am on Friday, Aug. 12 at the Grand Theater.
 
Divine Event - Matt Latour 390 tickets were sold and more than $16,600 was raised from the event.
 
Sand Castle Contest - Begins at the State Park at 9:00am on Saturday, Aug. 13.
 
Downtown Sidewalk Sales & Art on the Riverfront - Aug. 20 along Washington St and the Grand River.
 
Past-President's Party - The Club will be hosting a party at the GH Sailing Club on Aug 24 from 5 - 8pm to honor Brook Bisonet's service. FREE!! Everyone and a guest are welcome to attend.
 
Coast Guard Parade - A big thank you to Denny VanHall and grandchildren, Andy Ingall and family, Hannah and Kayla Artgensinger, and John and Megan Heritage for volunteering to assist with the Rotary float.
 
Walk the Beat - August 20th.  GH Rotary will have a booth in the Library parking lot and we are looking for a few members to share information about our club.
 
Coffee Report - We've been dumping out a lot of coffee out following meetings, so we are going to try a new coffee service.

Club Members expressed sympathy to member Dave Swain on the passing of his father, Richard Swain.  Visitation will be at Vanzantwick Bartels Kameraad Funeral Home from 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17 and the funeral will be at St. John's at 12 noon at St. Johns Episcopal Church on Thursday, August 18.
 
50/50 Raffle Tickets - Today's drawing -- $99 to the winner and $362 for charity. No winner this week so it rolls over to the next meeting.
