Beth Hanis -- Habitat for Humanity

Local Habitat will unveil its 57th home on November 3, 15157 Meadows Dr. Public is welcome to attend the ceremony.

National Habitat for Humanity is working towards multi-family, low income housing, rather than single family homes. This is being examined to see if that is the direction the local group will go, to provide more housing to low-income families.

In the last 25 years of local Habitat, more than 180 children have benefited from the service. Family members and their children have gone on to further their education and become more active members of local society.

Habitat for Humanity is an international organization. Last year more than 125,000 homes were constructed worldwide.

Beth announced a need for volunteers, in addition to donations of cash and/or labor on home construction projects. In 2016, Habitat will be undergoing their first home renovation project on a Habitat constructed residence.

April 28, 2016, Habitat will be holding a beer tasting fundraiser at Grand Haven Golf Club.

Journey to Bethlehem - Terri Metzger announced the 4th year of Journey to Bethlehem fundraising project at Duncan Woods. More than 25 local churches join in to build a replica of Bethlehem. Over 500 volunteers work on this project for every night's performance. In three nights, 3,750 people will visit. December 10, 11 & 12 are the dates for this year's event. December 5 & 6 are set building construction dates. Volunteers are needed. See www.journeytobethlehem.com for more information.

Water Bottle Fundraiser: There are three water bottles left to sell! Available at $15 each. Money raised goes to buy water filters for Honduras. Please see John Heritage.

R.E.A.D. Scrabble Fundraiser John Martin announced this upcoming fund raiser to support adult literacy. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Seven Steps Up. Refreshments at 6:00 p.m., games start at 7:00.

Flags for Veteran's Day - Pat McGinnis announced that flags will be put out the evening of Nov 10 and taken down the evening of Nov. 11. He will distribute a sign up sheet at next week's meeting.

Rotary Convention: Dale Swihart attended the One Rotary workshop and provided an update on the conference.

Indoor Halloween Trick-or-Treating: Several hundred young children showed up for indoor trick-or-treating at Lakeshore Middle School. Thank you to Rotarians who helped with this program.

Prospective Rotarian Day - Jeckyll and Hyde is coming Nov 9 & 10 - bring a prospective member and enjoy the GHHS musical.

Jacket Drive: Almost all of the students listed on the form have been spoken for. There are still a couple of open spots. Mary A. White jacket drive sign-up sheet is being distributed, please sign up and bring in as soon as possible so the items can be distributed. Drop off items at Mary A White, bring them to meeting or call Brandon. Please see Brandon Steury for more details.

Salvation Army Bell Ringing: Club members are asked to volunteer again this year to ring bells at Walmart on Dec. 12 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Volunteers should contact Stacey Trowbridge.

Honduras Trip: Scheduled for March, please see Gail Ringleberg. Four Baker students will be joining. Students from Mona Shores and Whitehall High Schools will also be joining. Feb. 26 - March 6, 2016.
