Dirk walked us through his family history and past. Dirk's father and grandfather both served as past presidents of the Grand Haven Rotary Club. A successful author and publisher from Grand Haven, Dirk spoke with us about his journey of being an author. Past works span from a Presbyterian Spiritual Journey, to a documentary focused on DB Cooper, to a documentary covering rural America with Route 2 Elsewhere. This story started in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and followed Route 2 across rural North America.
Dirk shared with us some stories of people across his journey, many from Indian Reservations across the northern states. He visited Wounded Knee, and visited the memorial there.

NEW TO ROTARY - The first of the 5th Mondays Meetings was last week! These are meetings set to replace the traditional Monday noon meeting with a social after-hours event, replacing the regularly scheduled meeting. Additional 5th Mondays will be in August and November (where there are 5 Mondays for the month). More information to come!
