Rotary 50/50 Raffle - Tom Manderscheid announced that we were again selling tickets for the Foundation. For each $20 ticket $10 goes to the RI Foundation, $10 goes to the winners. Tickets are available until Feb. 28. Paul McNergney announced the Rotary Foundation recently approved a Global Grant application in the amount of $45,000. These funds will be used to provide 250 water filters for villages in Central Honduras -- San Antonio de Canes, San Antonio de Libertad and Vera Cruz. Funding for 50 latrines in the villages of La Laguna, Voluntades and La Isla is also included in the grant. The GH Rotary Club has received significant contributions from First Presbyterian and All Shores Wesleyan churches, private donors club members and the Lowell Rotary Club. Accessibility Expo - March 22 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the GH Community Center. Free event for people of all abilities to access resources, employment, and information. At least 20 organizations will share resources; Herman Miller, Shape Corp., Walgreens, GHSP, Spectrum Health, JR Automation, Mercy Health, and Creative Dining Services will promote employment opportunities; and presentations on special needs trusts, guardianship, and social security benefits will be offered. Sent from Beth Mohagen, co-director El Ayudante, Honduras. 1-28-2018 EA is getting started with remote villages from Comayagua valley, and experiencing the poverty conditions. “Yesterday we took a team up 2 hours past our campus on a one-lane windy, mountain road, to begin the first day of installing filters in an extremely remote village - it was very humbling to see the remoteness, the poverty and need - and then to be able to give them the gift of clean water...a pretty powerful day and a great reminder of why this is all worth it! Thanks for fighting to be a part of something so impacting.” These water filters are made available from; GH Rotary Club, WEHOP, Presbyterian Church, All Shores Wesleyan Church, and numerous private donors.
