GHHS Math Teacher John Morrow, along with students Allison Matz and Rachel Greer, provided an update on their recent Interact trip to Peru. They joined many other volunteers to assist residents of Huilloc in building huts for guinea pigs which roam about inside homes and elsewhere. The guinea pigs are raised as livestock and building the huts enables the residents to raise more pigs in a much healthier environment for both the animals and the humans. Materials to build the guinea pig pens came from materials that were available locally and crafted by the students. Additional materials that were not available locally were purchased with donated monies long before they arrived and were shipped to the village for the students to use on this project.
