Brian Williams, a teacher from Grand Haven High School, joined us today. Brian teaches an elective course, "Pay It Forward", where Seniors can enroll to work with local non profits and experience life changing philanthropy.
Brian introduced Yevhenila Shmyrko, a young female artist from Ukraine. She shared her experience of growing up in a small rural village and also shared what it was like to be in a war zone. When she was 13 she moved to Grand Haven to live with her sister and brother-in-law. She had a hard time adjusting to school in the United States from the language barrier and meeting new friends, but through the help of many teachers and friends she was able to adjust. After graduation she enrolled at Rhode Island School of Design. She is a very grateful young woman and it was a pleasure hearing her emotional story.

The Food Truck at St. Pats went well. Thanks to John King for organizing.
There will be no meeting on Monday August 31 (5th Mondays). However, on Monday August 31 from 5-7 at the Grand River Sailing Club, we will be having a celebration for the end of summer. There is a signup sheet circulating at the meetings for side dishes.
The Grand Re-Opening Celebration of the Tri-Cities Family YMCA is September 21 at 2:00PM.
We are currently working on plans in partnership with The Eagles on a Taste of Grand Haven event for either June or September of 2027. Working with The Eagles will allow us to create a possible new signature event. More information to follow when more details are known.
