We welcomed Josh Brugger to our club to speak on behalf of the Ottawa County Commission.

Josh informed us that Ottawa County has expanded Rosy Mound, the Grand River Greenway and Ottawa Sands.  There is a parks millage on the ballot in 2026.

The JH Campbell Plant was authorized to be closed in 2022.  It was determined in 2024 that the power grid was in jeopardy of having rolling brown outs.  The Commission requested the State of Michigan review the plan for the power plant and their request was denied.  President Trump overruled the denial and temporarily extended the plant's authorization.

John Gibb's wrongful termination lawsuit was settled this year for $190,000.  Several other lawsuits were settled or closed during the year.

Dickenson and Wright was brought it as legal council this year.

Dollars allocated to our communities include contributions to Habitat for Humanity, Brownfield credits, new affordable residential developments, an Alan Treatment Bond, parking arrangements and dredging.

Josh also talked about our new administrator, Patrick Waterman.  He was the former deputy administrator at Ottawa County and most recently served as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Wyoming.

Future issues on the horizon are ground water and community mental health.
