Announcements - Get Involved!

Reimagination Station update provided by Chris Streng. Fund raising is close to $400K which means Reimagine is now eleigible for a $50K matching grant. Funds must be raised within 30 days, and with the Divine Event earmarking fuds to Reimagine, they should easily make this goal.
 
Youth Exchange - Kirsten urged everyone to consider taking in a foreign exchange student.
 
Pat McGinnis put out a call to put up/take down flags on June 14 for Flag Day.
 
Paul McNergney reported on our joint project with El Ayudante Rotary Club building latrines and installing water filters in Honduras. Thanks to the club's Rotary International grant and additional local fundraising, we have provided funding to construct 190 latrines and install 1,100 water filters over the past 10 years. Water filters are checked twice annually for proper flow rates. 
 
Divine Event - This year's fundraiser will take place at the Grand Haven Farmer's Market on June 28 from 6 - 9pm. Paul McNergney has tickets which are priced at $40 in advance, $50 at the door. Tickets can also be purchased online. 
 
Pancake Breakfast - If Rotary is going to host the pancake breakfast someone needs to grab Jay Greer SOON and tell him they will take charge of it. Otherwise, no breakfast.
 
Kirsten Runschke announced that we have an inbound student from Peru - plays soccer, speaks spanish and english, and we are seeking three host families.
 
Habitat for Humanity Quilt Raffle - Annette Allen announced raffle tickets at $2. Quilt to be raffled off in July.
 
Jill Davies is seeking items for the DVine Event silent and live auction. Each member is enthusiastically asked to donate AT LEAST one item. Please see Jill with your donation.

Club Assembly -- Committee Updates
 
Foundation/International Service -- Chris Riker reported the Committee has several suggestions for upcoming fundraising and
 
New Generations/Vocational Service -- Andy Ingall reported on discussions of how to encourage vocational education and associated projects.
Student of the month, looking for service.
 
Public Image/Membership -- John Heritage reported on discussions to reach members and attract new members, scholarships for new members who need financial help, tying into Young Professionals and Leadership Connect.
 
Club Service/Administration -- Diane Sheridan reported on improved methods of communication, encouraging all members to serve in some fashion at meetings. 2019 marks 90 years of service in Grand Haven and the group is planning events to commemorate the last 90 years of service.
 
Community Service -- Pat McGinnis discussed events attracting members to provide service at a few annual events.
 
In the upcoming year, the club will hold quarterly Club Assemblies to see how committees are doing with their tasks.

Morning Meeting At Consider It Done

Morning members received a presentation from Joel Lameraux with Get R Cut tree service.  Joel shared information on BioChar, a soil compound derived from Terra Preta, a region in the Amazon where the richest soil in the world is located.  BioChar helps plants, trees, and grass help retain water and nutrients.  Individuals can contact Get R Cut if they are interested in scheduling an application.
